THE CONTROL OF ASBESTOS REGULATIONS ACOP L143
Duration: 1day.
This training course is suitable for all employers whose supervisors or managers directly control or authorise any works which involve the removal or repairing of materials containing asbestos classified as ‘non-licensable’. It aimed primarily at the maintenance, building and allies trades.
The course is now mandatory for all workers who are involved in these sectors where their work is liable to expose them to asbestos. The course is sufficient to assist employers to comply with Regulation 10 of The Control of Asbestos Regulations. On completion of the course all delegates will be issued with an attendance certificate and an anti forge ID card valid for 12 months to comply with the refresher requirements as directed by ACOP L143.

• A brief history of the uses of asbestos;
• Asbestos type’s properties and risks;
• The effects of asbestos on workers health;
• The type’s uses and risks of ACM’s in buildings and plant;
• Procedures to deal with accidental exposure to asbestos;
• How to avoid the risks of ACM’s in buildings;
• The Employers and Employees legal responsibilities;
• ‘Control Limits’ and ‘Sporadic and Low Intensity’ exposures;
• The Role of the Analyst for compliance air testing;
• The Plan of Works and Risk Assessment;
• Maintenance of PPE and RPE;
• Final clean of the site (Regulation 17), site handover certificates;
• Controlling transportation of waste.
