
Asbestos Risk Assessor Certificate
Aims and objectives of this course:
To provide the delegate with the necessary knowledge to fully understand the principals of risk assessment of asbestos containing materials in buildings. The course utilises the guidance documents MDHS 100, HSG 210 as well as information from ACOP L127 Regulation 4.
*It should be made clear that this course is NOT intended for those who wish to undertake sampling of asbestos, the sampling of asbestos is covered in other proficiency training courses as advised by the HSE*. The course is suited to those building owners or maintenance managers whose responsibilities include the compilation of priority assessments or the re-assessment of asbestos as initially reported within the survey report.
The course content:
1. Asbestos, the historical use’s, types and characteristics.
2. Overview of the health effects of exposure.
3. Types, risks and locations of ACM’s in buildings.
4. Legislative requirements on building owners and employers;
5. Requirements on Domestic building owners.
6. MDHS 100 (an overview)
7. Understanding the types of surveys.
8. Levels of presumption used by the surveyor.
9. Contents of the survey report.
10. MDHS 100 and the use of the algorithm
11. HSG 227 and the priority assessment algorithm.
12. Case study on material assessments
13. Case study on priority assessments
14. Choosing the correct options for control of risk.
As an additional option an end of course MCQ test paper can be included
Course duration:
It is envisaged this course would be run over 2 days *course timings are flexible and can be made bespoke to the clients requirements*.
